Hellebores are an early spring bloomer with the daffodils

wofler312022-03-09T20:19:17+00:00March 9th, 2022|

Hellebores are often overlooked in gardens maybe because they don’t typically display the bright spectacular colors. But they add a subtle beauty in the late winter or early spring and bloom in my garden at the same time as daffodils. These pictures were taken in my northern California garden in mid – February, but they can bloom as early as Christmastime in warmer climates.
Hellebores like partial to full shade. Although they can be started from seed, I advise getting plants from your local nursery. These perennials require little care and will provide early beauty to your garden year a fter year. Here are more pictures of different varieties in my garden.

The hellebores’ subtle and classy bloom can add beauty and a spring – time flair to your window – sill.
